Lotus Leaf Water Fountains

Most who walk into Thierry’s shop in Camden will fall in love with the lotus leaves water features he has made. Following the success of the bronze shells Thierry cast some years earlier, Thierry continued to work with the same East Java village. One day after dining in the Lotus Café, in Ubud, Bali, Thierry asked if he could have several lotus leaves; he took these leaves all the way to East Java to try and cast them in recycled bronze and brass. Initial designs included platters and deep bowls, which Thierry also had silver plated.

In order to use the recycled bronze leaves in a fountain, a rather 'clean' feed material had to be found. Thierry came across 200 kilograms of ammunition casings and used these to make his collection of fountain lotus leaves in various sizes. The water feed 'stem' at the center of each leaf is an unsmelted casing.

Between 2001 and 2002 Thierry created several water features using the lotus leaves in old wood mortars and other bowls. The garden British designer Martin Summers won an award in the 2004 Chelsea Flower Show for a garden made using Thierry’s lotus leaves water feature. Thierry has produced several site lotus leaf water features.
